Chandigarh 09 May 2024: The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of Haryana Police has successfully reunited a 12-year-old girl, missing for the past six years from Prayagraj , Uttar Pradesh, with her family. The girl, who is mentally challenged, had been missing since 2019.
ASI Rajesh Kumar’s Dedication and Sensitivity Lead to the Breakthrough: This remarkable achievement was made possible due to the relentless efforts and sensitivity of ASI Rajesh Kumar, who is part of the State Crime Branch’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit in Panchkula. His dedication to the case caught the attention of Haryana Police Director General Shatrujeet Kapur, who commended his efforts and encouraged him to continue serving with the same zeal and commitment.
The Journey to Finding the Missing Girl: On January 29, 2024, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit received information about a missing girl, approximately 18 years old (current age), residing at a Child Care Institute in Narayangarh. The girl had been living at the Yamunanagar BalKunj Chhachhrauli for the past six years after being found abandoned at the Ambala Railway Station on November 21, 2019.ASI Rajesh Kumar was assigned to investigate the case. He conducted several video calls with the missing girl, counselling her patiently. Due to her mental condition, she was unable to provide much information about herself. However, she repeatedly uttered the word “Mughalsarai,” which became a crucial clue in the search for her family.
Collaboration and Perseverance Yield Results: ASI Kumar reached out to police stations in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, seeking leads based on the girl’s limited information. They recorded her voice and meticulously pieced together small clues from various sources to track down her family.Finally, after a relentless search, the girl’s family was located. Through a video call, they were able to identify their long-lost daughter. Overwhelmed with emotions, they expressed their immense gratitude to the Haryana Police for their unwavering efforts and sensitivity.
A Family Reunited, Tears of Joy:The girl’s parents were overjoyed to be reunited with their daughter after six years of despair. Tears streamed down their faces as they embraced their precious child. The emotional moment touched the hearts of all the police officers present.The girl’s mother recounted the incident of her daughter going missing from the Prayagraj Railway Station in 2019. She mentioned the girl’s mental challenges that affected her speech and comprehension abilities. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Haryana Police for their tireless efforts and compassion.
