Chandigarh, December 24: Punjab Minister and Anandpur Sahib MLA Harjot Singh Bains has written to Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, requesting the construction of five new bridges on rivers managed by the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB).

The appeal, made yesterday, aims to address connectivity issues and boost development in the region.

Bains pointed out that residents of Nangal, Kiratpur Sahib, and Anandpur Sahib face significant challenges due to poor road infrastructure. He proposed the construction of a bridge on Sirsa-Nangal, rebuilding of 60-year-old bridges at Brahmpur and Droli, and new bridges for Attari and nearby villages, as well as Bhaowal.

Highlighting the Bhakra Dam’s role in India’s progress, Bains noted that his ancestors contributed land for its construction. He stressed the urgent need to upgrade aging infrastructure for regional prosperity.

Sri Anandpur Sahib, a historical and spiritual hub, is the birthplace of the Khalsa Panth and home to religious sites like Mata Naina Devi Temple. Bains emphasized that improved connectivity would not only enhance tourism but also honor the region’s rich legacy.
