Punjab Kings Explosive Start

After losing the toss and batting first, Punjab Kings started with Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya. Both added 28 runs for the first wicket, but Prabhsimran was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada after scoring 5 runs. After this, captain Shreyas Iyer and debutant Priyansh Arya took charge. Shreyas Iyer scored 97* runs in 42 balls during his captaincy innings. He hit nine sixes and five fours in his innings. He and Shashank Singh (44*) had an undefeated partnership of 81 runs, which helped Punjab reach a high total. Marcus Stoinis (20) and Azmatullah Umarzai (16) both contributed helpfully, and Glenn Maxwell left the pavilion without opening the account. Maxwell’s 19 IPL outs on zero put him at the top of this field. Rabada and Rashid took one wicket each, while Sai Kishore claimed three for Gujarat.

GT vs PBKS: Arshdeep Singh Shines Under Pressure

Sai Sudarshan and captain Shubman Gill gave the Gujarat Titans a strong start as they chased the 244-run mark. For the first wicket, each contributed 61 runs. Gill scored 33 runs in 14 balls before being removed by Maxwell. Following this, Jos Buttler and Sai Sudarshan combined for 84 runs in 40 balls. After scoring 74 runs, Sudarshan was sent to the pavilion by Arshdeep Singh, missing a century. Gujarat’s aspirations were crushed by Arshdeep and Vijaykumar Vishak’s tight bowling in the final overs, despite Butler scoring 54 and Rutherford scoring 46. Arshad Khan (1*) and Shahrukh Khan (6*) were still undefeated.

Maxwell and Marco Jansen claimed one wicket each, while Arshdeep took two for Punjab. Despite without taking a wicket, Vishak’s precise bowling in the 19th over prevented Gujarat from winning

Shreyas Iyer’s Breaking Record

In his maiden game as captain, Shreyas Iyer made history by hitting 97*. On his IPL debut, he became the third captain to score the most runs. First on this list is Sanju Samson (119, 2021), followed by Mayank Agarwal (97*, 2021). Gujarat will need to reconsider their approach after this victory, which puts Punjab Kings in a strong start to the competition.
