General Observer Emphasises on the formation of Green Clubs at Sub Division Level Banks Asked to make every branch green Appeals to Voters to Contribute to the success of this campaign by supporting district administration
To Carbon Contentof Green Elections issued by ECI at ground level, the General Observer for Sri Anandpur sahib Parliamentary Constituency, Dr Heera Lal, today, emphasised on formation of Green Clubs at Sub Division level to rope in more voters in the drive, launched to make Anandpur sahib, a model for rest of the country. Today, while holding a meeting to review the progress of Green Election Campaign, Dr Lal said that to make the drive a great success, we need to work with a missionary zeal. The activities slated under campaign should be accelerated with the help of social and NGOs active in environment protection. He said the Banks should be transformed into green banks as part of the campaign. Brand Ambassadors should be appointed to encourage the voters to be the part of campaign. Business, Traders and Industry stakeholders should be urged to promote green election by sensitising the staff engaged by them and the voters. Dr Lal further said that a pledge must be administered at each gathering be it social or political to promote green elections by taking oath of not using single use plastic and other such goods that increase Carbon Content on the earth. He said that a message in the form of letter from the District Election Officer should also be sent to all the voters to make it a mass campaign and ensure their participation in the holistic drive. Terming Education institutes very much instrumental in spreading the message of Green Election to the community, he emphasized on reaching them by sensitizing them about the concept of green election so that they can take this campaign further. He said the parks belonging to the MCs should also be kept clean and more saplings should be planted there to compensate for the depleting green cover day by day. He said that besides planting saplings, caps and other material conveying message of green election should also be distributed among the voters to make them stakeholders in the campaign. Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain assured the General Observer that in the coming days, a wide-scale awareness about Green Election campaign will be initiated by approaching all the stakeholders.
