Gautam Adani’s financial help for flood affected regions in Kerala

Gautam Adani, the chairman of the Adani Group, said today that he would donate Rs 5 crore to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund in order to aid the state, whose hilly region on Wayanad was devastated by landslides brought on by relentless rains.

“Heartbroken at the terrible deaths in Wayanad. Gautam Adani expressed his sympathies to the Wayanad flood victims on his X timeline, writing, “My heart goes out to the affected families.”

CENTRAL GOVERNMENT STATEMENT ON WAYANAD 

The government informed the Rajya Sabha today that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is continuously monitoring the situation in Kerala’s Wayanad district in the aftermath of the landslides and all possible help is being extended to the state by the Centre.”

Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai responded to the Calling Attention Motion regarding the Wayanad landslide tragedy by saying, “I am stating with sadness, that whatever information has been made available so far, rescue workers have taken out 133 bodies so far.” There could be more casualties.

“The Kerala government has received Rs 145 crore from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) today, and the SDRF still has ₹394 crore left in it,” Mr. Rai stated.
