Four Die as Vehicle Plunges Into Gorge in Shimla

Shimla, March 26 — Four people, including a woman and her daughter, died when their vehicle fell into a gorge on the Anandpur-Mehli road near Shimla late Tuesday night, officials said.

The accident occurred near Lalpani Bridge after the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to plunge into the gorge. All occupants died on the spot.

The victims were identified as Rupa Suryawanshi (45), wife of Bhagwan Das, her daughter Pragati (14), Mukul (10), son of Het Ram—both residents of Nav Bahar, Shimla—and Jai Singh Negi (40), son of Padam Negi from Sanjauli, Shimla.

Police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) retrieved the bodies and sent them to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Shimla for post-mortem.
