Jalandhar, March 29: A third-grade student died after being struck by a fireball of electricity in a park in Guru Nanakpura West, Jalandhar. The incident, captured on CCTV, occurred when the child accidentally hit overhead 66 KV power lines with a rope-tied object, triggering a massive electric discharge.
The child, Aarav, was playing with other children when the object he threw made contact with the high-voltage wires, causing a sudden explosion. The electrical surge formed a fireball that struck him, leaving him severely injured.
Aarav, a resident of the Guru Nanakpura West slum on Powercom-owned land, was rushed to the Civil Hospital and later referred to Amritsar due to his critical condition. However, he died en route.
His maternal grandfather, Hari Singh, said Aarav had been playing in the park around 4 pm when the accident occurred.
Local residents were left shaken by the tragic incident.
