Lok Sabha: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi raised the issue of Maharashtra elections in the Lok Sabha, alleging that the entire population of Himachal Pradesh was suddenly added to the voter list of Maharashtra. He demanded the data of new voters from the Election Commission and said that these new voters are in the areas where the BJP has won.
Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi on Monday raised the issue of Maharashtra elections during the discussion on the President’s address in the Lok Sabha. He said that the entire population of Himachal Pradesh was added to the voter list before the Maharashtra assembly elections.
Rahul Gandhi said, “I want to bring to the attention of this House some figures and information about the Maharashtra elections. Between the Lok Sabha elections and the assembly elections, the voter population of Himachal Pradesh was added to the voter list of Maharashtra. That is, the entire population of Himachal Pradesh was added to the voter list of Maharashtra. About 70 lakh new voters suddenly came between the Lok Sabha and assembly elections.”
The Congress MP further said, “We are asking the Election Commission to please give us the names, addresses and voting centers of all the voters of Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha, so that we can calculate who these new voters are. Interestingly, the new voters are mostly in those constituencies where the BJP has won. I am not making any allegations right now. I am telling the House that the Election Commission will have to give the figures. I am confident that the Election Commission will give us this information.”
‘PM Modi forced to bow head in front of the Constitution’
He further said, “I remember before the election you all (BJP) were saying 400 plus and you were saying that you will change it (Constitution). Then I was happy to see that the Prime Minister came in and was forced to bow his head in front of the Constitution.”
“It was a proud moment for all the Congress members that we explained to the Prime Minister and the entire country that no force will dare to touch it. I know that the RSS has never accepted it. (RSS chief) Mohan Bhagwat has said that India did not get independence in 1947. We will never fulfill your dream. This Constitution is going to rule India forever,” Mr. Gandhi continued.
‘China intruded, Make in India failed’, claimed Rahul Gandhi
Rahul Gandhi further said, “our Army Chief has said that China has intruded on our land. This is a fact. Now, it is important to know that the Chinese have entered our land. The Chinese have entered our country because Make in India has failed. The Chinese are sitting in our country because India is refusing to make its own products. I am worried that India will once again hand over this revolution to Chinese companies.”
You have to give proof of intrusion: Lok Sabha Speaker Birla
“The Prime Minister denied it, but the Army gave a statement contrary to the Prime Minister and said that China is sitting on our 4000 square kilometers of land.” On this, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said, “you have to give proof of what you are saying in the House.”
On this, Rahul Gandhi said, “our Army Chief has said that the Chinese are within our territory. This is a fact.”
Rahul Gandhi on Jaishankar’s USA visit
Rahul Gandhi alleged that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was sent to America three times so that the Prime Minister could get an invitation to attend the swearing-in ceremony of US President Donald Trump.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Kiren Rijiju objected to this. He said, “opposition leaders cannot make such serious, unauthentic statements. This is a matter related to the relations between the two countries. You are making unverified statements about the invitation of the Prime Minister of the country.”
‘Use AI on caste census data,” suggested Rahul Gandhi
Rahul Gandhi said, “imagine what effect it will have if we use Artificial Intelligence (AI) on caste census data. We can bring social change by using AI. We will make Dalits, other backward classes and tribals more involved in the governance, institutions and distribution of wealth of the country.”
