Panchkula, April 18: In a bid to reclaim public spaces and improve urban order, the Panchkula Municipal Corporation (MC) launched a targeted anti-encroachment drive across key sectors of the city.
Acting under senior directives, enforcement teams cleared illegal stalls, carts, and goods obstructing footpaths and roads in Sector 2, Sector 20, and the Sector 9–10 Chowk area.
MC officials said the drive focused on ensuring smoother pedestrian and vehicular movement by removing unauthorized vendors and temporary structures.
“We took strict action against violators obstructing public spaces,” an MC spokesperson said.
The operation led to 10 offline challans and two online challans being issued for cart-related encroachments. Additionally, three challans were issued for illegal use of polythene, which remains banned in the city.
The MC team also addressed two honeybee hive complaints and acted on one general public complaint, reflecting what officials called a “proactive and responsive approach” to city maintenance.
Municipal authorities confirmed that the campaign would continue over the coming days, adding that repeat violators will face stricter penalties.
“Encroachment affects both safety and sanitation,” the spokesperson noted, “and we are committed to keeping public areas free from obstructions.”
