Guwahati, 31 December 2024: Diljit Dosanjh dedicated his Guwahati concert on Sunday to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who passed away at 92 on December 26. In an Instagram post featuring a clip from the event, the Punjabi singer-actor described Singh’s life as a lesson in humility and dignity.
“Today’s concert is dedicated to Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. DIL-LUMINATI TOUR Year 24,” read Dosanjh’s caption. During the performance, he spoke about Singh’s values, remarking on his calm demeanor even when criticized.
“Manmohan Singh Ji lived an exceptionally simple life. Even when others spoke ill of him, he never responded in kind,” Dosanjh said in the video, adding, “Our politicians often argue like nursery children in Lok Sabha. But Dr. Singh taught us to rise above such behavior.”
Singh, known as the architect of India’s economic reforms, served as the country’s 13th Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014.
Recalling Singh’s wisdom, Dosanjh shared one of his famous quotes: “Hazaaron jawabon se meri khamoshi achhi, na jaane kitne sawalon ki aabroo dhak leti hai (‘My silence is better than a thousand answers, for it preserves the grace of countless questions’).” The singer urged the audience, especially the youth, to emulate Singh’s focus and resilience.
“We must concentrate on our goals, even when others try to distract us with negativity. Today, I bow my head to a man who dedicated his life to serving his nation with love and integrity,” Dosanjh added.
The Dil-Luminati India Tour will next take him to Ludhiana for a performance on December 31.
