Chandigarh, 3 January 2025 – Dense fog and harsh cold conditions continue to grip Punjab, creating significant disruptions in daily life. Visibility has dropped to extreme lows, with no flights able to land at Amritsar airport since 10 PM. Many flights were rerouted to Delhi due to poor conditions.
The weather department has predicted a change as a Western Disturbance is expected to become active on January 4. Light rain is forecast for districts including Pathankot, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, and Hoshiarpur, with more widespread rainfall anticipated across Punjab on January 5 and 6.
Surinder Pal, Director of Chandigarh Weather Science Centre, said, “Rain is likely in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and areas near the hills on Sunday and Monday.
Although temperatures could drop by 2-3 degrees after the rain, overall weather conditions for January are expected to remain within normal limits.”
As Punjab braces for a shift in weather, residents are advised to prepare for the possibility of further disruptions in the coming days.
