“Delhi’s CM Atishi changed her father..” BJP under fire for such comments

In a scathing response to BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri’s comments on Chief Minister Atishi, Manish Sisodia, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, claimed that the BJP has a tendency to make offensive remarks about women while simultaneously requesting votes.

“That’s the nature of the BJP. It is impossible for Ramesh Bidhuri to do this without consulting his senior leaders or following their directives. The BJP has a history of making offensive remarks about women, including a female chief minister, and humiliating her in public. From the same platform that the prime minister used to to appeal to the people of Delhi to form their government, Ramesh Bidhuri made offensive remarks about women. The prime minister should make it clear if he agrees with the kind of language Bidhuri used. Is he asking for votes to put a person like Bidhuri forward in Delhi politics?,” said Sisodia.

His remarks come after Bidhuri said Atishi “changed her father” when she became Singh from Marlena. “This Marlena (surname used earlier by Atishi) became Singh, changed name. Kejriwal swore over his children not to go with the corrupt Congress, Marlena changed father. Earlier she was Marlena, now she has become Singh. This is their character,” Bidhuri said speaking at the party’s  ‘Parivartan Rally’ in Rohini that was also later addressed by PM Modi.

The party was scolded by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal for “crossing all limits of shamelessness.” “BJP politicians are insulting Atishi ji, the chief minister of Delhi. The assault of a female chief minister will not be accepted by the people of Delhi. In a post on X, he claimed that all of the women in Delhi would exact revenge for this.

Bidhuri had to issue an apology prior to this for his remarks against Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi. “In Bihar, Lalu claimed he would build roads that resembled Hema Malini’s cheeks, but he was lying and couldn’t. I promise you that we will make all the roads in Kalkaji like Priyanka Gandhi’s cheeks, just as we made the roads in Okhla and Sangam Vihar,” he had said, drawing flak from every corner.

Later, he was forced to apologize for offending anyone and admit that some people had misunderstood his comments for political purposes.

Bidhuri’s remarks, according to Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate, were offensive not only to Priyanka Gandhi but also to women everywhere.
