Delhi voting 2025: In Delhi, the 70-member assembly is currently up for vote. Among the prominent figures who cast ballots early in the day were President Droupadi Murmu, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, S Jaishankar, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, AAP leader Manish Sisodia, BJP’s Bansuri Swaraj, and Congress’ Alka Lamba.
Who will govern the Union Territory for the ensuing five years will be determined by the Assembly Election in 2025. 13,033 polling places saw the start of the single-phase Delhi Assembly Election voting at 7 a.m.
With the outcome of the assembly election on February 8, the triangular contest between the Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will come to an end.

A unique polling station has been set up in Delhi’s Vikaspuri with the theme ‘Chandrayan se chunav tak Bharat ki udaan’. A walk through the polling station introduces one to telescopes and bioscopes installed at different points. There are also models of Chandrayaan and PSLV, made by the students of Rajdhani College, Shivaji College and Bharti College.
What adds to all this are the volunteers dressed up as astronauts to assist voters.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) leaders Brinda Karat and Prakash Karat on Wednesday cast their votes in the Delhi Assembly polls. Speaking to news agency ANI, citing her concern about the city’s governance, Brinda Karat emphasised the need to protect Delhi from what she called a “double-engine disaster,” implying the BJP’s central and state governments. “We need to keep Delhi safe from the double-engine disaster and we have voted keeping that in mind,” she said.

Congress Minister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with husband Robert Vadra and son Raihan Vadra cast vote in Delhi. Speaking to media, she appealed to Delhi voters to step out of their houses and cast vote. “I know that the people of Delhi are fed up. Wherever I go, people say the situation of water, air and roads is not at all good. There are several issues, if we want to resolve them, come out and cast your votes,” she said.

Delhi voting 2025: DY Chandrachud called EVMs “valid”
Former Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud along with his wife, Kalpana Das, cast vote for at a polling booth in Lions Vidya Mandir Secondary School near Teen Murti.
Former Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud spoke to media soon after casting vote. “I think our democracy is extraordinarily mature and people are cognizant of their responsibilities. They know which way to cast their vote,” he said.
When asked about opposition’s claims on EVM, the former Chief Justice called EVMs “valid”. “The Supreme Court has repeatedly, repeatedly upheld the validity of our EVMs. The Supreme Court is the last voice in the constitutional space on adjudication, has affirmed the validity of the EVMs, and I think we must accept it, that’s the verdict of the Supreme Court,” he said.
He further asked young voters to “exercise their franchise”.
