“Crimes against women is an inexcusable sin”: PM Modi

Maharashtra, 25 August: On Sunday, PM Narendra Modi referred to crimes against women as an “inexcusable sin” and stated that those who commit them should not be forgiven.

PM Modi again emphasized on women safety amidst ongoing nationwide protests

Speaking at the Lakhpati Didi Sammelan in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, the prime minister stated, “The nation prioritizes the protection of mothers, sisters, and daughters in addition to strengthening them. From the Red Fort, I have brought up this matter several times. I sympathize to my sisters’ and daughters’ pain and rage today, no matter where in the nation they are.”

“I am going to emphasize to all state governments and political parties in the nation that crimes against women are sins that cannot be forgiven. According to ANI, Prime Minister Modi stated, “Whoever is guilty, he should not be spared.”

“Those who offer him assistance in any way ought not to be spared. At whatever level carelessness occurs—be it a hospital, school, government, or police system—all those involved should be held responsible. The message should be quite clear. We cannot forgive this sin. Governments will come and go, but as a community and as a government, we all have a great deal of duty to uphold the dignity of women and to safeguard life,” Modi continued.

The statement from the prime minister coincides with the continuing national demonstrations over the violent rape and death of a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee physician at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital.

On August 9, early in the morning, the heavily injured medic’s body was discovered within the hospital’s chest department seminar hall.

As directed by the Calcutta High Court, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is looking into the matter. Sanjoy Roy, the primary accused, is in judicial custody till until September 6.
