- 20,104 liters of illegal liquor worth Rs. 61.16 lakh seized in Gurugram district after model code of conduct imposed

Voting in Gurugram district will be held on 25 May during the sixth phase. In view of the elections, the model code of conduct has been enforced throughout the district. Complying with the model code of conduct, the Gurugram district administration has seized 20,104 liters of illegal liquor so far, valued at approximately Rs. 61.16 lakh. Five flying squad teams in each assembly constituency are working with the police to conduct continuous checking campaigns.
Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer, Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav informed that action will be taken if anyone is carrying more than Rs. 50,000 in cash during the model code of conduct. He said that if carrying a large amount of cash, ensure to have a transaction slip from the bank otherwise the cash will be confiscated. Similarly, people carrying expensive gifts, gold, silver, or other valuable items should be aware of their details. The SST teams are rigorous to ensure the Lok Sabha elections are conducted fairly, transparently, and peacefully.
Vehicle checking at checkpoints
In view of the Lok Sabha elections, the district administration is fully vigilant. Various FST teams and the police administration are conducting checks at checkpoints on the roads leading in and out of the city and district to seize cash, illegal liquor, and other items. By 16 May, the police department had seized 17,174 liters of illegal liquor worth Rs. 53 lakh 43 thousand and filed 370 FIRs. Meanwhile, the enforcement team seized 2,930 liters of illegal liquor worth about Rs 7 lakh 73 thousand and filed 11 FIRs against the concerned persons.
