Ludhiana, March 22 — The by-election dates for the Ludhiana West Assembly constituency have not been announced yet, but the political landscape is already heating up. While the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has named Rajya Sabha member Sanjeev Arora as its candidate, the Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), and BJP have yet to announce theirs. However, Congress leader Bharat Bhushan Ashu has hinted at his possible candidacy.
Following a meeting with senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi, Ashu shared a Facebook post suggesting his readiness for the electoral battle. “The winds of change will start blowing from the West—Ludhiana West—and will storm the entire Punjab by 2027! Congress is coming back stronger than ever,” he wrote, adding that Punjab Congress is now united and prepared to win future elections.
The Ludhiana West seat fell vacant after AAP MLA Gurpreet Singh Gogi passed away, leaving the constituency unrepresented since January 11. According to the Punjab Assembly’s notification, the by-election must be held within six months, making July 10 the deadline.
