CHAMBA, April 14: — Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will dedicate a series of development projects during his visit to Pangi Valley on April 15 as Himachal Pradesh celebrates its statehood day in the remote region for the first time in history.

The official state-level Himachal Day function, to be held at Killar — the administrative headquarters of Pangi — marks a significant moment for the isolated valley. The event has triggered visible excitement and celebration across the tribal belt of Chamba district.

During his visit, the CM will lay foundation stones for key infrastructure works, including residential quarters for the Agriculture Department costing ₹3.75 crore, and additional classrooms at Government Senior Secondary Schools in Luj and Mindhal, budgeted at ₹1.5 crore each.

Also on the list is the ₹2.13 crore sub-market yard at Killar, a new HPSEBL office worth ₹49.42 lakh, and two health sub-centres at Rei and Hudan Tehsil, each set up with an outlay of ₹1.99 crore.

In a push for sustainable energy, Sukhu will launch a 1 MW solar power project at Dhanwas Karyas under the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL), estimated at ₹10.51 crore.

The Chief Minister will also inaugurate several completed projects, including the Mini Secretariat building in Killar constructed at ₹20.88 crore, a ₹5.62 crore Industrial Training Institute (ITI) building, and a ₹5.29 crore bus stand. An alternate access road to the bus stand, built at a cost of ₹2.98 crore, will also be opened to the public.

A 50-bed Civil Hospital at Killar, completed at an expenditure of ₹19.83 crore, will be another major facility inaugurated during the tour.

“This is a historic day for Pangi,” said Satish, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Killar-1. “No state-level event of this scale has ever reached our valley. We are honoured by the CM’s visit and hopeful for more such inclusion in future.”

The administration has made extensive preparations to host the celebrations, with cultural programs, traditional performances and local participation expected to turn the occasion into a milestone for Pangi Valley.
