11 May 2024, Haryana – Vote can also be cast by showing alternative identity card. Chief Electoral Officer of Haryana, Anurag Aggarwal has said that every voter must exercise his franchise in the festival of democracy. For this, every voter should ensure that his name is included in the voter list.
Only the voter whose name is in the voter list can exercise his franchise. If a voter’s name is in the voter list but he does not have a voter identity card, he can cast his vote by showing 11 alternative identity cards specified by the Election Commission.
Shri Aggarwal has said that even if a voter has an old voter card, he can cast his vote, provided that his name should be in the voter list of that area. If the name of any voter is not in the voter list and he shows his Aadhaar card or voter card or any other identity card at the polling station to cast his vote, he will not be allowed to cast his vote. Any voter can cast vote only if his name is registered in the voter list.
He said that apart from EPIC, voters can also cast their vote using 11 alternative photo identity documents specified by the Commission. These documents include passport, driving license, service identity card with photo issued to employees by Central, State Government, PSUs or public limited companies, passbook with photo issued by bank or post office, PAN card, smart card issued by the Ministry of Labor, MNREGA job. The card includes health insurance smart card issued under the scheme of the Labor Ministry, pension document with photo and Aadhaar card.
He said that assembly wise voter lists are uploaded on Haryana State Election Commission’s website CEO. ECI Haryana.gov.in, any person can check his name in the voter list by downloading it. Apart from this, voters can also check their vote by calling helpline number 1950.
