SHIMLA, April 03: — The Union Government has approved ₹267 crore for infrastructure projects in Himachal Pradesh, including national highways, Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said Thursday. The amount is part of the ₹1,400 crore capital expenditure request submitted by the state for the 2025-26 financial year.

Singh credited Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving the funds, saying he had raised the matter multiple times to push for quicker approvals.

The allocation includes funds for three bridges each in Chamba and Una districts. Additionally, ₹54.37 crore has been set aside for landslide mitigation on the Nigulsari-Nathpa road, while ₹40.85 crore will go toward similar work near the Keru bridge on the Katori Bangra-Banikhet-Chamba-Bharmour road.

An estimated ₹48 crore has been cleared for land acquisition and widening the Bhatti Nala bridge approach to a two-lane road. In Una district, ₹24.27 crore has been sanctioned for a detailed project report on two bridges over Barna and Bore Wali Khad, and ₹36.93 crore for a bridge over the Swan river.

Singh also mentioned that maintenance and repair works have received funding, including upgrades to the Kalka-Shimla-Wangtu road passing through the Theog bypass, strengthening of the Dhalli-Theog-Narkanda-Rampur road, repairs on the Saij-Luhri-Aut road, and tarring, metalling, and culvert construction on various other routes.

Regarding the Jalori Jot tunnel, Singh said alignment work has been completed and a ₹1,452 crore detailed project report is in progress. The 4.156 km tunnel is expected to be finalized within this financial year.
