Kolkata, 22 August: In relation to the rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata, Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, along with four other medical professionals, are scheduled to take a polygraph test (lie detection). Disparities in their statements during the investigation led the CBI to approach the Calcutta High Court to request authorization for the polygraph test.

A senior CBI official informed ANI, “We will corroborate their statements with the result of the polygraph test to verify their statement given to the agency.”
The event also occurs one day after Ghosh was the target of a lawsuit brought by the hospital’s former deputy superintendent in the Calcutta High Court. According to Akhtar Ali, the former principal was part of a large network of scams. The long list of accusations includes things like managing dead bodies illegally, biological waste, failing students and asking for bribes, giving out unnecessary tenders, and running unauthorized stall kiosks.
The CBI had earlier questioned Ghosh regarding his reaction to the occurrence, his communication with the police and her parents, among other things.
In the meantime, an appeal from the Supreme Court led to the suspension of an 11-day strike by several organizations of doctors on Thursday night. In the course of a hearing on the doctor rape and murder case in Kolkata, the top court had called on medical personnel to return to their responsibilities. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud’s bench added that the court would order the authorities to refrain from taking any negative action against them.
Earlier this month, the supreme court took up the matter on its own and ordered the task group to provide a final report within two months and an interim report within three weeks.
Additionally, the top court requested that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submit a status report regarding the progress of the rape case investigation. In addition, the court ordered the West Bengal government to provide a status report about the August 15 mob violence incident at the RG Kar hospital.
