Chandigarh, March 21— A Burail resident, Arjit, is on ventilator support at PGIMER after being bludgeoned with a brick by a youth on Thursday night.
The attack, which left Arjit with severe head and ear injuries, occurred near Amar Sales Medical Store around 10 pm. Nand Lal, a 26-year-old waiter at Hotel Diamond Ring, witnessed the assault.
“I saw a young boy repeatedly striking a man’s head with a brick near the parking lot railing. Even in my presence, he continued the assault before escaping on a bicycle,” Lal said in his police complaint.
CCTV footage showed the accused arriving on a bicycle and attacking Arjit. Police said the duo was seen dining together before the altercation turned violent, though the motive remains unclear.
An FIR under Section 109(1) (attempt to murder) of the BNS has been lodged, and a manhunt is underway.
