Bridge Collapse Halts Traffic on NH-305 in Kullu

by TheReportingTimes

Kullu, April 12: Vehicular movement on National Highway 305 came to a complete stop near Mangalore in the Banjar subdivision of Kullu district after a bridge collapse triggered a major disruption, officials said Saturday.

The damaged bridge has stalled traffic in both directions, stranding commuters and impacting transport services along the crucial stretch that links Banjar with the Ani and Nirmand regions.

According to officials, the bridge gave way while a loaded vehicle was crossing. No casualties were reported in the incident.

Banjar MLA Surender Shourie said the administration and National Highway authorities have taken immediate steps in response. “Temporary restoration is being planned, and officials have been instructed to prepare an alternative route,” Shourie noted. “However, implementation may take time due to the extent of the damage.”

He urged travelers to avoid using NH-305 until further notice. “People are strongly advised to reconsider their travel plans and use alternative routes until the damaged section is restored and declared safe,” he said.

Shourie also said emergency personnel, including traffic police, remain stationed at the site to assist commuters and manage the disruption. “We request the public to stay updated through official sources and cooperate with traffic advisories to avoid delays and ensure safety,” he added.

Authorities are expected to provide progress updates as efforts to establish temporary access continue.
