NAYAGAON, April 14: — The body of a 25-year-old man, identified as Rakesh Mandal of Nayagaon, was discovered under a water tank at Rajendra Park near Nayagaon on Sunday, police said.
According to officials, a passerby noticed the body lying beneath the tank structure and alerted the authorities. Police reached the spot and later confirmed the identity of the deceased.
“Initial findings indicate he may have fallen from the tank structure. However, injuries found during the postmortem suggest other possibilities cannot be ruled out,” a police officer stated.
The examination revealed head injuries, a fractured leg, and wounds on various parts of the body, raising suspicion about the circumstances of his death.
Police added that Mandal had been missing from his home for the past two days. “We are probing all angles and awaiting further forensic reports,” the officer added.
An investigation into the cause and sequence of events leading to the youth’s death remains ongoing.
