Jammu, January 4: Jammu police arrested a PDD employee accused of shooting BJP leader’s son Advocate Kanav Sharma during a parking dispute in New Plot area within six hours of the incident.
Police reported that Ravinder Singh, a government employee, fired two rounds at Sharma on January 3 after an altercation escalated into violence. The dispute arose when Sharma was parking his vehicle near a street outside the PDD lineman room, which Singh opposed.
A scuffle broke out during the argument, leading Singh to use his licensed pistol, injuring Sharma, who was rushed to Sarwal Hospital before being transferred to GMC for further treatment. Singh fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Jammu Police quickly launched an investigation, securing the crime scene with the assistance of forensic and crime photography teams. Utilizing technical and human intelligence, they apprehended Singh, recovering the weapon used in the attack.
Police confirmed that Singh is a permanent government employee, currently posted at Parade, Jammu. A case under FIR No. 01/2025 has been registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar, and investigations are ongoing.
