Chandigarh/Jalandhar. APRIL 8: The Punjab Police on Tuesday said the grenade attack on BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia’s residence in Jalandhar was jointly orchestrated by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

Addressing a press conference, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Arpit Shukla identified gangsters Zeeshan Akhtar and Shahzad Bhatti as key conspirators. “Punjab Police teams, along with central agencies, worked round the clock and cracked the case within 12 hours,” he said.

Shukla noted that a large-scale operation to apprehend other accused is in progress. “We cannot share further details at this stage as raids are being conducted at multiple locations,” he added.

An e-rickshaw used in the attack has been seized, though the identities of those arrested are being withheld for now. Responding to media questions, Shukla dismissed suggestions of an intelligence failure.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government transferred ADGP (Intelligence) R.K. Jaiswal on Monday evening, without announcing his next posting.
