4 August, Assam: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Sunday that the Assam government is going to pass legislation opposing “land jihad.”
According to Sarma, Hindus and Muslims in order to purchase each other’s land in the state, will need to obtain authorization from the state administration. At the BJP state executive meeting in Guwahati, he made the news.
According to Himanta Biswa Sarma, laws opposing the so-called “love jihad” are also being considered by the administration.
“The government of Assam is proposing two laws to put an end to land jihad and love jihad. The consent of the government is required if a Muslim wishes to purchase property owned by a Hindu, or vice versa. Life in prison is the penalty for practicing love jihad, according to Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Bhabesh Kalita, the chairman of the Assam BJP, stated that measures were being done to safeguard the state’s indigenous population by combating “land jihad.”
In places like Assam and Jharkhand, the BJP has been fighting against the “rampant infiltration” of foreigners.
The government home minister, Amit Shah, stated last week that Jharkhand’s indigenous population was declining as a result of widespread infiltration.
“After forming a government in Jharkhand, we will bring out a ‘White Paper’ on demography to protect tribal people, their lands, reservation, and rights.”
Hemant Soren was not mentioned, but he accused the tribal chief minister of Jharkhand of being part of “land jihad” and “love jihad” because of his “vote bank and appeasement policy.”
