ASI Suspended for Carrying Service Pistol to Mall While Intoxicated

Chandigarh, March 14— A Chandigarh Police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was suspended on Thursday after he was found carrying his service pistol to Centra Mall in an allegedly intoxicated state.

Police received a call around 4:25 AM about an armed man at the mall. A team led by ASI Subhash Chand responded and found four youths who reported that a man in civilian clothes had brandished a firearm before fleeing.

Investigations identified the individual as ASI Sanjiv Kumar.

A medical examination confirmed alcohol on his breath, and his blood and urine samples were collected for further analysis.

Following the incident, Chandigarh Police suspended him with immediate effect and transferred him to police lines as per SSP’s orders.
