The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, but he will have to follow certain conditions. With this, he will have to return to jail again on June 2.

The Supreme Court granted interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal till June 1. Kejriwal was arrested on March 21 after nine summons from the Enforcement Directorate. He got relief after about 50 days. While giving them this relief, the Supreme Court has imposed some conditions, which they will have to follow.

Kejriwal Conditions-  Kejriwal got relief on these six conditions after 50 days, will not be able to sign any file.

He got relief after about 50 days. While giving them this relief, the Supreme Court has imposed some conditions, which they will have to follow.

  • Arvind Kejriwal will have to surrender and return to jail on June 2.
  • He will have to pay a bond of Rs 50 thousand.
  • Kejriwal will not be able to comment on his role in the money laundering case related to the excise policy scam.
  • He will have to follow his statement that he will not sign any official file unless the matter is as urgent as getting approval from the Lieutenant Governor.
  • Kejriwal will not go to the Chief Minister’s Office and Delhi Secretariat.
  • They will not be able to talk to any witnesses and will not be able to see official documents related to the case.

The Supreme Court made these comments

  • The interim bail granted to Arvind Kejriwal should not be considered as an opinion given on the merits of the case against him.
  • There are serious allegations against Kejriwal, but he has not been convicted yet.
  • He has no criminal history, nor is he a threat to society.
  • A holistic and liberal approach is appropriate in view of the Lok Sabha elections.
  • Kejriwal was out for one and a half years. He could have been arrested (by ED) earlier or later, but nothing happened.
