Gujarat: According to authorities on Saturday, a woman in Gujarat’s Botad district “mentally harassed” her husband, pushing him to commit suicide.
After her 39-year-old husband left a video note asking his family to punish his wife for causing his death, the Gujarat police filed a complaint against her, according to news agency PTI.
On December 30, the man was discovered hanging from the ceiling of his home in the village of Zamrala in Botad.
He asked them to “teach his wife a lesson for causing his death” in the video that his family discovered on his phone, according to a representative of the Botad rural police station.

Police filed a first information report (FIR) against the man’s wife on Friday based on the complaint made by his father. According to the deceased’s parent, his daughter-in-law frequently argued with him and often left him to visit her parents’ house, thereby mentally torturing him.
The person who died had visited his in-laws’ home to persuade his wife to come home, according to the FIR. But when she refused to accompany him home, he went back, made a video of himself, and then took the drastic measure.
Police stated that additional inquiry into the situation was still underway and that a charge under section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) (abetting of suicide) has been lodged.
