Amritsar Grenade Attack: Two Arrested, Narco-Terror Network Unveiled

by TheReportingTimes

AMRITSAR, DEC 28 – Punjab Police arrested two individuals on Saturday in connection with the December 17 grenade attack on the Islamabad police station in Amritsar. The early-morning assault caused no injuries but spread fear in the area.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav revealed that the arrests are linked to the discovery of a narco-terror module with ties to foreign handlers. “We have arrested Gurjeet Singh of Dande village in Amritsar and Baljit Singh of Chhapa in Tarn Taran for their role in the grenade attack,” Yadav shared on X. He added that law enforcement recovered 1.4 kilograms of heroin, one grenade, and two pistols. “The investigation continues to uncover the entire network,” he stated.

The explosion, reported around 3:15 a.m. on December 17, caused panic in the surrounding areas. DGP Yadav visited Amritsar the same day, where he conducted a meeting with officials to review the situation and directed stricter enforcement measures against perpetrators.

This incident is part of a series of grenade attacks targeting police establishments in Punjab. Two days after the Amritsar attack, another grenade was hurled at a police site in Gurdaspur district. On December 30, three suspected Khalistani terrorists allegedly involved in the Gurdaspur incident were killed in a joint operation by Punjab and Uttar Pradesh Police in Pilibhit.

Officials described these arrests as a significant step in dismantling narco-terror networks and enhancing security in Punjab amidst ongoing threats.
