Hyderabad, 24 December 2024: Allu Arjun, the popular Telugu film star, appeared before Chikkadpally police on Tuesday for questioning related to the tragic stampede during a Pushpa 2 screening at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad on December 4, which resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman.
Her eight-year-old son was also injured in the incident. The police had earlier issued a notice to the actor to appear for questioning at 11 a.m.
In preparation for the actor’s appearance, security measures were increased around Allu Arjun’s residence as well as the Chikkadpally police station.
When he left for the station, Allu Arjun waved to his fans, as police imposed traffic restrictions on roads leading to the station.
Earlier, police commissioner C.V. Anand had shared a video outlining the sequence of events that led to the fatal stampede.
According to the deceased woman’s family, the stampede occurred during the screening of Pushpa 2, prompting the police to register a case against the actor, his security staff, and the theatre management under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Named as accused No. 11 in the case, Allu Arjun had been arrested on December 13 but was granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court later that day, allowing his release the following morning.
Despite his release, the investigation into the incident continues as authorities piece together the circumstances surrounding the tragic death.
The questioning of Allu Arjun marks a significant development in the ongoing probe, as the police aim to determine the factors that led to the stampede at the crowded theatre.
