A cafe submerged; a wine shop damaged by flashfloods in Kullu (Himachal)

A flash flood in the Kullu district's Tosh Nullah, in the Manikaran Valley, early on Tuesday caused serious damage to infrastructure.

A nearby café was submerged and two stores, including a wine shop, were damaged by the flood. Furthermore, there was significant damage to a road bridge in the area. There were no reported deaths.

Dredging operations in the area prevented any major tragedy, as stated by SDM Kullu Vikas Shukla.

This monsoon season, the tragedy is the second of its kind to occur in the Kullu district. Three buildings had previously been washed away by a comparable flash flood in the Anjani Mahadev area near Manali, which also temporarily shut the Manali-Leh route.

SDM Shukla gave his word that things are under control and that things will return to normal. To avoid any problems and guarantee the safety of the locals, authorities are still keeping a close eye on the area.
