Muktsar, April 20: A father and son were shot dead in Punjab’s Muktsar district on Saturday evening, allegedly over a land dispute, police said. The incident took place near Abul Khurana village, leaving the local community in shock.

The victims have been identified as Vinay Pratap Singh, 50, and his son Suraj Pratap Singh, 25. According to officials, both died on the spot.

Muktsar senior superintendent of police (SSP) Akhil Chaudhary said initial reports suggest the killings stemmed from a longstanding property conflict within the village. “The deceased were involved in a land dispute with another group. They reportedly had a heated exchange earlier in the day,” Chaudhary stated.

He added that the victims were ambushed while returning from their farmland. “Their SUV was intercepted by the other party, and both were shot dead on the spot,” the SSP said.

Police said an FIR is in the process of being registered, and efforts are underway to identify and locate those responsible for the attack.
