Chandigarh Estate Office Triples Property Registration Appointments

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, April 17: Following a surge in applicants after the revision of Collector rates, the Chandigarh Estate Office has nearly tripled its daily property registration appointments from 65 to 150.

Estate officials confirmed that 362 documents had been registered over six working days between April 1 and 15, despite nine holidays during the same period.

Welcoming the move, Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, president of the Property Federation of Chandigarh, said the increase in appointment slots had been a long-standing demand.

Complete shift to digital payments

Simultaneously, the UT Administration has made all financial transactions at the Sub-Registrar and Tehsildar offices entirely cashless starting today. Citizens must now use the SHCIL portal http://www.shcilestamp.com for payments related to document registration, certified copies, commissions, and other official services.

Officials said the change aims to enhance transparency and efficiency while eliminating risks tied to cash handling. Residents are warned against offering or accepting cash at government counters and are advised to avoid unauthorised intermediaries.

For assistance with the online system, applicants can contact the Sub-Registrar Office during working hours.
