Chandigarh, April 17: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will lead a group of ministers (GoM) tasked with overseeing preparations for the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur, aiming to commemorate the occasion “in a befitting manner,” the state government said on Wednesday.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Mann at his official residence, where plans were discussed to ensure smooth execution of events marking the legacy of the ninth Sikh Guru.

“Guru Teg Bahadur sacrificed his life to uphold the right to freedom of worship and to defend human and secular values,” Mann told ministers. He described the Guru’s martyrdom as “unique and unparalleled in the history of mankind,” noting it represented a stand against tyranny and religious persecution.

The Chief Minister said the state was committed to organizing a series of commemorative events at a large scale. “We are duty bound to honour the memory of Guru Sahib through statewide functions,” he said.

Mann added that development projects would be taken up at sites associated with the Guru’s life and visits, ensuring those locations are preserved and celebrated.
