Ahmedabad, April 8: Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram collapsed at Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad on Tuesday and was rushed to a hospital.
The 79-year-old former Union finance minister had been attending a prayer meeting along with other party leaders when he fainted, reportedly due to heat and exhaustion after a packed schedule, sources said.
“He is fine and is being examined by doctors,” his son and Congress MP Karti Chidambaram said on X, adding that there was no cause for concern.
Chidambaram had earlier participated in the extended Congress Working Committee meeting held at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial.
Following the incident at the Ashram, fellow leaders carried him to an ambulance that transported him for medical attention.
