MI vs KKR Match Highlights:  The Mumbai Indians have finally opened their IPL 2025 winning record.At Wankhede Stadium on Monday, Mumbai defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by a margin of eight wickets. After losing two games in a row, Mumbai felt relieved to win. KKR’s team, batting first, collapsed for just 116 runs, while Mumbai scored 116 runs in just 12.5 overs.. The heroes of this triumph were batsmen Ryan Rickelton and debutant Ashwani Kumar.

Mumbai’s initial victory

The Mumbai Indians won their first game at home after losing to the Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans early in the season. Mumbai quickly chased the 117-run goal set by KKR. Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma began the innings. Rohit attempted to start quickly, but it was obvious that he was not in good form. He only managed 13 runs before heading back to the pavilion. Will Jacks, who returned, scored 16 runs but was unable to accomplish much. However, Rickelton put the squad on the verge of triumph with an undefeated 61-run innings.

MI vs. KKR: The genius of Ashwani Kumar and Surya

When Ashwani Kumar made his debut, everyone was taken aback. This young fast bowler claimed four wickets for twenty-four runs in three overs in his first IPL encounter, including the wicket of KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane. Due to his lethal bowling, KKR’s innings was reduced to 116 runs in 16.2 overs. He was also well-supported by Deepak Chahar, who claimed two crucial wickets.

Suryakumar Yadav scored 27 runs in just 9 balls during the reply innings, turning the game into a one-sided contest. Surya smashed two sixes and three fours in this brief innings. With 43 balls remaining, Mumbai won thanks to his spectacular effort.

The failure of KKR

However, KKR’s batting was a total failure. Later, captain Ajinkya Rahane acknowledged that his squad as a whole failed. After losing four wickets in the powerplay, they were never able to bounce back. This time, even well-known figures like Andre Russell and Sunil Narine were unable to do any magic.
