The Mumbai Indians won their first game at home after losing to the Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans early in the season. Mumbai quickly chased the 117-run goal set by KKR. Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma began the innings. Rohit attempted to start quickly, but it was obvious that he was not in good form. He only managed 13 runs before heading back to the pavilion. Suryakumar Yadav scored 27 runs in just 9 balls during the reply innings, turning the game into a one-sided contest. Surya smashed two sixes and three fours in this brief innings. With 43 balls remaining, Mumbai won thanks to his spectacular effort.
The failure of KKR
However, KKR’s batting was a total failure. Later, captain Ajinkya Rahane acknowledged that his squad as a whole failed. After losing four wickets in the powerplay, they were never able to bounce back. This time, even well-known figures like Andre Russell and Sunil Narine were unable to do any magic.
