Chandigarh, March 31 – Four to five SUV-borne robbers allegedly assaulted and attempted to rob the driver and labourer of a tent and light services shop in Sector 15 on the night of March 27, police said.
The victims, Ashok Kumar and Dhruv Kumar, were returning to their shop from Vikas Nagar, Mauli Jagran, when the incident occurred around 1:30 am near Amartex Chowk. In his complaint, Ashok said a white Haryana-registered Mahindra Xylo with four to five passengers blocked their truck.
“Two of them signaled us to stop, but I kept driving. They intercepted us again at the Sector 14/15 traffic light, positioning their car directly in front of our truck. They demanded money, ordered us to step out, and assaulted us with sticks and punches. One of them had a pistol,” Ashok stated.
He added that the attackers smashed the truck’s front windshield but fled when the victims shouted for help.
A case under Sections 115 (causing hurt), 126 (wrongful restraint), 190 (unlawful assembly), 191(3) (rioting with deadly weapons), 324(4) (mischief), and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at the Sector 14 police station.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and have launched a manhunt to track down the suspects.
