Amritsar, March 14 — A man from Haryana allegedly attacked SGPC employees and devotees with an iron rod at Guru Ram Dass Serai in the Golden Temple on Friday, injuring four people, police said.
The accused, identified as Zulfan, was overpowered by those present and handed over to the police. Kotwali SHO Sarmel Singh said an investigation was underway to determine the motive.
According to the SGPC staff, the man was seen roaming suspiciously and questioned about his identity. When asked to leave, he argued with the staff, left the premises, and later returned armed with an iron rod. He then attacked the SGPC sewadars and devotees who tried to intervene.
Among the injured were two SGPC sewadars. Authorities are reviewing security measures at the site.
