Panchkula, March 14 — Four days after 22-year-old Lakshya Verma was found dead in Kalka’s Parade Mohalla, police arrested two men in connection with his death.
The accused, Rinku of Balaji Nagar and Suraj of Kuradi Mohalla, have been booked under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the BNS. Police said the duo had demanded a party from Lakshya and provided him with drugs. His condition deteriorated soon after consumption, and without medical aid, he died. Instead of informing his family or authorities, the accused dumped his body in Parade Mohalla.
CCTV footage captured Rinku, wearing a cap, pulling Lakshya’s body from a vehicle’s back seat and abandoning it at the spot where it was later discovered. Police clarified that Lakshya was not a drug addict, though Rinku was a habitual user with a prior case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Lakshya, originally from Shimla, had moved to Kalka two years ago for work in Parwanoo. His aunt, Meera Verma, informed police that he had been in a live-in relationship for the past seven months with family approval.
After Lakshya’s body was found near Gandhi Chowk, police launched an investigation, analyzed CCTV footage, and gathered forensic evidence. The accused were arrested near Kalka under the supervision of SHO Sub-Inspector Pritam and investigating officer ASI Sandeep.
Police secured a four-day remand to establish the type of drugs consumed, their source, and the exact sequence of events. The post-mortem report, which is awaited, is expected to provide further clarity.
