Illegal Structure of Drug Dealer Razed in Sangrur

by TheReportingTimes

Sangrur, March 11 — The Punjab government on Tuesday demolished an illegal structure linked to alleged drug dealer Budh Singh Budha on Stadium Road in Sunam town as part of its Yudh Nasheyan Virudh (War Against Drugs) campaign.

The action, the first of its kind in Sangrur, follows Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s 90-day deadline to curb drug-related activities in the state. Since his announcement on February 28, authorities have demolished over 20 such properties across Punjab.

According to officials, the structure stood on land belonging to the local market committee and was being used for criminal activities, including drug trafficking. “We had reports that this property was functioning as a hub for drug sales and other unlawful activities,” said Sangrur Senior Superintendent of Police Sartaj Singh Chahal. “The administration will continue strict action against those engaged in such illegal practices.”

Budha, whose criminal record dates back to 2010, faces six cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and one under the Excise Act.

On Monday, a similar operation was carried out near the Barnala bus stand, where authorities demolished the property of a woman and her daughter accused of running an illicit drug trade.
