Chandigarh, March 9 — A motorcyclist was robbed of ₹8,000 by two unidentified men on a Honda Activa near Dhanas Lake, police said Saturday.
The incident took place around 10:15 p.m. when the victim was heading home from Dhanas. As per his complaint, the Activa riders blocked his path, and the pillion rider snatched ₹8,000 from his jacket’s inner pocket. The cash had been withdrawn using his HDFC ATM card, which the suspects discarded before fleeing. The victim later recovered the card.
Initially, he had incorrectly reported a different Activa registration number and estimated the stolen amount at ₹20,000–₹25,000. Upon reviewing his losses, he submitted a revised statement confirming ₹8,000 was taken. The Sector 11 police are investigating based on the updated complaint.
A case has been registered under Sections 3(5) (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and 304(2) (snatching) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
“They only took the cash. I was also wearing a silver chain and had a mobile phone, along with ₹3,150 in another pocket,” the victim said.
