Chandigarh, 2 January 2025: Major General Jagdeep Singh Cheema, Additional Director General of the NCC Directorate for Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh, held a formal meeting with Chandigarh UT Adviser Rajeev Verma on Thursday.
The discussion revolved around the possibility of utilizing NCC cadets in the fight against the drug menace, particularly in educating students.
This meeting followed a previous conversation between Cheema and the Chandigarh DGP about involving NCC cadets in traffic management duties. At the UT Secretariat in Sector 9, Verma stressed the importance of NCC’s participation in initiatives aimed at raising awareness about drug addiction.
“NCC cadets can play a significant role in helping the youth understand the dangers of drug abuse,” Verma noted.
Maj Gen Cheema fully backed this suggestion, highlighting the potential impact of cadets in supporting such crucial community efforts.
He also extended an invitation to Verma to attend the upcoming flag-off event for the NCC’s cycle rally titled “Bharat Ke Veer: Ek Shaurya Gatha,” set to travel from Hussainiwala to New Delhi.
Cheema expressed his commitment to further collaboration with the administration in these endeavors.
