Chandigarh, December 29, 2024: The Punjab government is preparing to hold the winter session of the Vidhan Sabha in early January. A key topic for discussion will be the Centre’s proposed national agricultural marketing policy, which has sparked widespread opposition from various groups, including farmers, commission agents, and sheller owners, along with opposition parties. These groups have already voiced their opposition in several meetings.
Additionally, the opposition Congress party is gearing up to raise concerns over the state’s law and order situation during the session. Recent grenade attacks on police stations have intensified criticism of the government’s ability to maintain security.
A cabinet meeting is also expected soon to finalize important proposals ahead of the upcoming session.
