Chandigarh, 27 December 2024 – Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed grief following a fatal bus accident on Bathinda’s Talwandi Sabo Road, where a private bus fell into the Lasara drain, claiming eight lives, including the driver, and injuring over 24 passengers.
Calling the incident “heartbreaking” in a tweet, Mann said, “I pray for peace for the departed souls and wish a quick recovery to the injured. Rescue operations are ongoing, and administrative teams are at the site.”
Authorities identified the deceased driver as Balkar Singh, a Mansa resident. The private bus involved, registered as PB 11 DB-6631, was carrying passengers when it veered off the road.
The injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the police are investigating the cause of the accident as rescue efforts continue at the scene.
