Chandigarh, December 25, 2024: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau arrested Amritpal, also known as Kaddu, from Maur in Bathinda district on charges of demanding and accepting bribes from employees at the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) office in Maur. The accused allegedly collected Rs 35,000 and sought an additional Rs 20,000 for arranging a tubewell connection.
According to an official spokesperson, the arrest followed a complaint lodged online by Bhola Singh, a resident of Ubha village in Mansa. Investigations revealed that Amritpal posed as an authorized PSPCL contractor and took the bribe under false pretenses.
A case has been filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Vigilance Bureau’s Range Bathinda station. The accused will appear before the court tomorrow.
