Bhaduar, March 29 — Police registered a case against 25 unidentified individuals after a clash over paddy transportation in Bhadaur village left four people injured and damaged 16 vehicles, officials said on Friday.

The incident occurred on the morning of March 27 between members of the local truck union and workers linked to contractor Maninder Singh. According to police, the dispute erupted over the transportation of paddy from state warehouses and Food Corporation of India (FCI) godowns.

In his complaint, Maninder Singh alleged that truck union members, including president Jagdeep Singh, attacked his drivers, Noor Muhammad and Ranjit Singh, around 6:30 am. The injured drivers were treated at a local hospital before being shifted to Barnala civil hospital. Two alleged attackers also sustained injuries and received first aid.

The contractor accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Labh Singh Ugoke of orchestrating the attack, claiming the legislator had previously threatened him. Singh also alleged that police failed to provide him security despite a Punjab and Haryana High Court directive.

MLA Ugoke, however, denied the allegations and said he had directed senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sarfaraz Alam to conduct a thorough investigation. “The police will investigate the issue, and the truth will come out,” he said.

Truck union president Jagdeep Singh, meanwhile, claimed the contractor’s aides initiated the violence.

Police have registered a case under sections 115(2), 191(3), 190, 324(4), and 126(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
