Ishan Kishan has been named in Ruturaj Gaikwad-led India A team which will tour Australia in November. “The Men’s Selection Committee has picked a 15-member India A squad for the upcoming tour of Australia. India A will play two first-class matches against Australia A in Mackay and Melbourne respectively and then take part in a three-day intra-squad game against Team India (Senior Men) in Perth,” the BCCI said in a statement.

Earlier in the year, Kishan was removed off the BCCI central contracts. It occurred after he returned India midway from the South Africa tour and did not participate in domestic competitions for his state team, Jharkhand. This season, Kishan is leading Jharkhand in his comeback to domestic cricket.

India A squad for the tour of Australia: Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), Abhimanyu Easwaran (VC), Sai Sudharsan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Devdutt Padikkal, Ricky Bhui, Baba Indrajith, Ishan Kishan (WK), Abishek Porel (WK), Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Yash Dayal, Navdeep Saini, Manav Suthar, Tanush Kotian

With impressive results in domestic cricket, including a century for India C during his comeback in the Duleep Trophy last month, Kishan has managed to win back the respect of the BCCI.

In the Irani Cup, he played for the Rest of India as well, scoring 38 in his only innings.

As the leader of Jharkhand’s 16-man team, Kishan will now oversee a youthful group of players, with Kumar Kushagra serving as the wicketkeeper and Virat Singh, the team’s designated skipper from the previous season, serving as his deputy.
