Global tech giants to invest in India’s AI sector after meeting PM Modi

Global tech giants Google and Nvidia have declared ambitions to increase their participation in India, especially in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). This is a big step for the country’s technology landscape. Following a roundtable meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel, CEOs of Google and Nvidia, Sundar Pichai and Jensen Huang respectively made the announcements.

Sundar Pichai, CEO Google, praised PM Modi for his ventures like ‘Digital India’ and ambitious AI plans 

Modi spoke with executives from US-based businesses that specialize in cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and semiconductors during his three-day visit to the US. Pichai and Huang both applauded Modi for his “Digital India” vision and his emphasis on how AI can revolutionize a number of industries, including healthcare, education, and agriculture.

Tech Giants praised PM Modi 

After the meeting, Pichai emphasized Modi’s dedication to using AI to advance Indian society. “The Prime Minister’s objective is quite clear: he wants to make sure AI benefits the Indian people. He is encouraging us to investigate how AI can transform industries like healthcare and education while making sure the necessary infrastructure is in place to facilitate this change,” said Pichai. Additionally, he underlined Google’s commitment to increasing its AI spending in India.

Pichai highlighted the company’s continuous efforts to “Make in India” and “Design in India,” noting that Google has regularly been pushed by the Prime Minister to concentrate on local applications of AI. “We’re excited to work with India more especially in response to the Prime Minister’s challenge to design AI solutions that address the country’s unique needs,” Pichai added.

In an identical manner, Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, highlighted India’s capacity to take the lead in the adoption of AI, citing the nation’s rich reservoir of computer scientists and startups. “India has some of the best brains of the world, and AI offers the nation enormous opportunities,” Huang stated.

Huang went on to describe Nvidia’s intentions to expand its presence in India, especially through collaborations to build out AI infrastructure.

Huang also emphasized Nvidia’s partnerships with Indian educational establishments, pointing out that Nvidia AI Centers of Excellence are currently housed in each Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). “We are training professionals and students to embrace AI’s complexities. This is a pivotal moment for India to leverage AI in ways never imagined before,” he said.
