Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut was advised on Wednesday by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician and former Union minister of state (GOI), Som Prakash to refrain from making “unnecessary comments” against the Sikh community and Khalistan movement leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.

Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film, Emergency continue being in controversy

According to Som Parkash, he made his statements in response to Bhindranwale being referred to as a “terrorist” in a television interview of BJP Lok Sabha MP from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut.

Som Parkash said on X, “Kangana Ranaut should refrain from making needless remarks demeaning the Sikh community and Sant Jarnail Singh. The Sikh community was offended by such comments. She needs to continue exercising self-control. Nobody ought to be permitted to threaten Punjab’s peacefulness.

When discussing her next film, Emergency, Kangana stated that 99 percent of Punjabis do not think Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was a saint. She stated in the interview, “He was a terrorist, and if he is a terrorist, then my movie must be allowed to be released.”

As stated by Som Parkash in an interview with The Indian Express, “Nobody should be allowed to hurt peace and harmony in the state. The party (BJP) has already disassociated itself from Kangana’s statement.

Prior to this, former IAS Jagmohan Singh Raju, a BJP candidate from Amritsar East in the Punjab Assembly elections, pleaded with Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to be “overcautious” and requested that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) make sure that the Kangana Ranaut film Emergency “has no content that could be construed as hurtful to Sikh sentiments.”
